France - May 2022

In May 2022, we (Barb and John) took our second Road Scholar trip, "French Art Voyage: Paris, the Rhône and the French Riviera."  We did a similar trip in 2019 on the Seine, north of Paris, but the coronavirus and covid-19 kept us pretty close to home for a couple of years. After all of our vaccines and boosters, we were excited to travel again and explore more art in France. This itinerary started with a time in Nice and other parts of the Riviera (Part 1) , then we cruised to Lyon over the course of a week (Part 2) and finally took a train from Lyon to Paris and spent 3 more days there (Part 3).

Each section will be illustrated with some pictures but I took WAY more pictures (as usual).  They are available to peruse without the commentary at this link.  You can enlarge any picture in this narrative by clicking on it - it will open in a separate window and in many cases, show detail you can't see in the small version.

Part 1: Nice to Martigues

This includes the beginning of the trip, our arrival in Nice, and the first six days until we boarded the river boat.

Part 2: On the Rhône

This section begins with St. Remy de Provence and includes stops in Arles, Avignon and Lyon.

Part 3: Lyon to Paris

This section includes leaving Lyon, a day visiting Beaune and Dijon and the final three days in Paris.
